On 18-22 October 2023, The STARmeds team consisting of Prof. Yusi Anggriani, Dr. Hesty Utami and Esti Mulatsari MSc. attended The American Society of Tropical medicine and Hygiene (ASTMH) Annual Meeing in Chicago USA. The meeting is designed for researchers, government and public health officials, military personnel, travel clinic physicians, practicing physicians in tropical medicine, students, and all healthcare providers working in the fields of tropical medicine, hygiene, and global health. This meeting offers benefit for STARmeds researchers to disseminate the findings of our research, keep up with the latest knowledge on tropical medicines and expand our international networking. During this four-day intensive conference, they presented two STARmeds findings titled “Quality Evaluation of Antibiotics in Indonesia: Do Generic vs Branded Medicines Matter?”, and “Quality Matters: Comparing Chemical and Microbiological Quality Measures for amoxicillin and Cefixime Samples in Indonesia”. In addition, the team also got the opportunities to work closely with Prof Marya Liebermann from Notre Dame University of Indianapolis at “Got Fakes” booth to introduce Paper Analytical Device as the simple and portable tool to screen medicine quality on the field.
